After earning a degree in engineering from the University of Colorado, Jim began timing races for the Motorcycle Racing Association in Colorado. From there Jim began working with Ken Rogers at the American Motorcyclist Association Pro Racing division where he wrote software and designed much of the hardware systems used for professional racing. Jim left the AMA to work with Hardcard Systems where he helped develop software and hardware for RFID chip timing systems. As part of the customer support for Hardcard, Jim traveled to over a dozen countries and supported timing systems in 16 countries.

Jim is responsible for the software, hardware and network design and implementation of the systems used by Kandu Timing. Jim is also active with on-site event timing and production.
